The world is getting connected. Take action or get ready to be disrupted.

The world is getting connected. Take action or get ready to be disrupted.

Disruption. What is it? It’s a similar situation that the taxi industry experienced when Uber came. Or the hotel industry and Airbnb showed up.

In other words; Disruption” describes a process whereby a smaller company with fewer resources is able to successfully challenge established incumbent businesses.

In fact, we live in a world that is changing that history has never seen before.

All the technologies in the graph above are becoming faster cheaper and computer power is enabling all discoveries and innovation to be accelerated.

Another very important factor to consider: the competition is for the first time; coming from every part of the world. In fact; the network of telecommunication is expending:

0 G in 1940

1G in 20180

2G in the 90’

3G in 2000

4G in 2010

And …. 5G is coming.

What is the difference? Let’s download a 90 min HD movie:

With 3G: 45 minutes to download

With 4G: 21 second

5G: < 5sec

In 2010, 1.8 billion people were connected, by 2017 the interconnected population reached 3.8 billion and in less than 5 years, the entire world will be connected.

An additional 4.2 billion minds are going to join the race of self-improvement and innovation.

We already see it with COVID: an acceleration of global interconnected innovation events through webinars:

„ The young generation in Ghana, Nigeria, Rwanda, Uganda, Kenya or Nepal, Cambodia, Laos, Myanma, Vietnam, Indonesia or South Korea is eager to stand on their own feed and build a business of their own. In the next 20 years we expect the number of startups to be more than 100 times as big as in developed nations and the successful enterprises arising of that group 10 times as many as in the “west”. The “High Potential” nations represent a combined population of 4.5 billion, a market 15 times as big as the United States. “ Axel Schultze

How – NOT – being disrupted

  • Acknowledge the reality of disruption
  • Start to collaborate more, including with emerging startups through different open innovation models
  • Education ourselves at daily rates of the new emerging technologies before it is too late.
  • Not only focusing on the present and establishing a meaningful and vision for the future.

…. and how to from disrupted to disruptors throught the power of collaboration.
